Urban Youth Empowerment Program

(UYEP)

  • The Urban Youth Empowerment Program (UYEP) provides both education and work experience for “High Risk” out of school and/or adjudicated youth ages 18-21 in St. Clair County, Illinois.

  • The UYEP goal is to ensure self-sufficiency through community service, continued education and unsubsidized employment.

  • UYEP consists of four components: Assessment, the Education Continuum, the Work Continuum, and the Personal Development Continuum.

  • Highlights of UYEP include:

    • Training opportunities including assessment and counseling;

    • GED preparation;

    • Work opportunities and internships; and

    • Community service continuum.

  • UYEP is sponsored through the US Department of Labor and administered through the National Urban League.
