Early Education for Achievement

  • The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis’ Head Start program is a comprehensive interdisciplinary national child development program which provides developmental services for St. Louis City low-income, pre-school children (ages three to five) and social services for their families.

  • Specific services for children focus on:

    • early childhood education;

    • socio-emotional development;

    • physical and mental health;

    • nutrition;

    • family support services; and

    • transportation.

  • The Head Start Program:

    • Serves 726 children and their families;

    • Provides center-based operations from 7:30am - 6:00 pm;

    • Operates 4 fully licensed centers; and

    • Operates the Urban League Head Start Center in Jennings which serves 276 children and is fully accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children(NAEYC).
