Child Development and School Readiness Services
Head Start
is a national program that provides child development services to economically disadvantaged children.
A special focus is placed on helping preschoolers develop the early reading and math skills they need to be successful in school.
In addition to early childhood education, other services provided by Urban League Head Start include:

Transportation
The Urban League Head Start utilizes the Creative Curriculum for Preschool which addresses all areas of development.
The Head Start Program

Serves 726 children and their families;

Provides center-based operations from 7:30am - 6:00 pm;

Operates 4 fully licensed centers; and

Operates the Urban League Head Start Center in Jennings which serves 261 children and is fully accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Eligibility
Urban
League Head Start provides services to children,
ages 3-5, and their families. Families must have proof of income and
proof of residency and child must have their immunizations up-to-date.
Head Start services are provided to economically
disadvantaged families living in the City of St. Louis. Urban League
requires caregivers to apply for subsidy if the child is enrolled in a
full-day program while the caregiver is in educational/vocational
training or employed at a position that falls within the Federal poverty
guidelines.
