Federation of Block Units

  • The Federation of Block Units is a grassroots, volunteer organization focused on helping St. Louis residents improve their neighborhoods and the quality of life for families and residents.

  • Founded in 1932, the Federation is one of the largest self-help organizations in the United States.

  • The Federation Board of Directors serves as the collective voice of the Federation of Block Units.

  • Individual Block Units operate as cooperative, self-help organizations.

  • The Block Units work to improve neighborhoods, educate residents on their responsibilities, encourage teamwork, use all available resources and enhance cooperation among citizens, government, voluntary organizations and other stakeholders.

  • Each year, the Block Units sponsor the Ebony Fashion Fair to help raise money for college scholarships.
