YOUTH HOUSING ADVOCACY
The Youth Housing Advocacy Program works to insure that youth referred by the Department of Children and Family Services in the State of Illinois obtain and/or maintain safe and affordable housing.
The program achieves these goals by:
Assisting clients to negotiate with landlord in the areas of affordable rent and rent due dates
Providing educational training in the areas of:
Home maintenance
Tenant/landlord rights and responsibilities
Consumer education
Budget counseling
Providing linkages to community-based resources; and
Providing follow-up services.
Follow-up for the Youth Advocacy Housing Program includes visits as needed to insure the client is able to meet basic life necessities and maintain their rental agreement.
