Food Assistance

  • The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis operates three Food Pantries in the Urban League’s St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Clair County offices.

  • The Urban League is a member of the St. Louis Area Food Bank and Operation Food Search, which allows the Urban League to purchase food at little or no cost for distribution to families in need.

  • Last year the Food Pantries:

    • Assisted  over 6,250 unduplicated clients with food baskets;

    • Provided volunteer opportunities; and

    • Provided people in need with supplemental and or emergency food.

  • Contributions are made possible by several organizations including:

    • United States Department of Agriculture (USDA);

    • Emergency Food and Shelter Program;

    • The St. Louis Area Food Bank;

    • Operation Food Search;

    • East St. Louis Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity;

    • Cargill AG Horizon Corporation of East St. Louis;

    • St. Louis Bread Company; and

    • many others.
